Dr. Andrea Audine J. Bulquerin, LPT MAPEH Educator · Sports Coach · Researcher
Doctor of Education in Physical Education, teaching movement, music, arts and health to Grade 7 at Iloilo National High School.
Profile
A dedicated MAPEH educator — Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health — with extensive experience in physical education, sports development and arts education. My work centres on coaching, sports event management and student-athlete development, helping young people find capability and confidence through movement.
My doctoral research developed the PEAK coaching self-assessment framework — a structured way for school sports coaches to evaluate their own practice across communication, drill clarity, skill development and athlete motivation, informed by feedback from the athletes themselves.
Alongside teaching I am actively engaged in educational research and peer review, contributing to the advancement of teaching practice and sports science. I have held a range of school-based coordinatorship roles, leading programmes in sports, school-based management and information across junior and senior high school.

Research
Doctoral dissertation
My dissertation produced PEAK-Coach, a coaching self-assessment framework and platform for school sports. Coaches rate their own practice across communication, drill clarity, physical fitness, skill development and motivation; athletes contribute their own feedback; and the results combine into a score that can be tracked across a season. It covers the sports recognised by the Department of Education.
The platform was built in collaboration with Martin Rupert Bulquerin, on which I am credited, and I demonstrated the working system at my final defense.

Tools
Software supporting my coaching and research, developed in collaboration with Martin Rupert Bulquerin. Each one grew out of a problem I ran into on the court or in the classroom.
PEAK-Coach
- Coaching self-assessment across communication, drill clarity, physical fitness, skill development and motivation
- Collects feedback from athletes to sit alongside the coach's own rating
- Keeps an athlete roster with performance records and competition results
- Plans training sessions in phases, and tracks attendance over a season
- Reports and analytics covering the sports recognised by the Department of Education
- Demonstrated at my doctoral final defense
AI-Powered Feedback in Arnis
- Tracks joint keypoints live through a webcam using MoveNet pose detection
- Measures limb angles to score strikes and stances as they happen
- Saves session recordings so athletes can review their own form
- Applied to Arnis, the Philippine national martial art
